Happy Easter (a few days late)

OK, so I have come to terms with the fact that I am TERRIBLE with the whole blogging thing. I just never seem to be able to sit down long enough to post anything. Oh well, here’s one for April...

I made Lissy an Easter dress! Look how cute! I found a free pattern/tutorial at Made by Rae here. It was only written for brand new babies, though, so I took a dress of Lissy’s and made myself a pattern with it. Super easy, and it fit perfectly! The only thing I would have changed is to shorten the ties at the straps. They were a bit too long and so they looked a little wonky. I completed it off with a diaper cover from Made. Nothing cuter than a baby butt!

It ended up raining on Sunday morning (like EVERY Easter) but I found a preemie sized white sweater in her closet (yes I know she’s 10 months old).

  
And what mother, who goes through the trouble of making an Easter dress, could NOT make a matching tie for her son?? Oh yes I did! I’m that kind of cool. Of course, he refused to wear it to church, but I got him to wear it for a few pictures. Don’t mind the chocolate drool stains all over the front of his nice shirt- we’re six.

Meet Molly

I found the CUTEST pattern for a stuffed monkey here. I just had to make it for Kylee’s birthday! It was so easy to do and I happened to have everything on hand.

The shoes are my favorite. :)

So fun, I decided she needed a cowgirl outfit too.

Spring Fever

 I haven’t gotten much crafting done between the sick days and sub days lately. But we did have a few spring-like February days. Have you ever noticed how much bluer the sky is on a spring day after a good rainstorm? Everything is so fresh and crisp and clean. I love it!
The kids love it too, especially when we’re at the park:


B’s new favorite thing? Fishing. He bought his own fishing pole with his own money and loves it. Hasn’t caught a thing, but he talks about it all the time! We went to the lake a couple of weeks ago with some friends. It was beautiful and the kids had a blast!

Look what I made today:

I’ve been planning our trip to Gramma and Poppa’s house and was  thinking about all the STUFF that I’m going to need to take. How is it that someone so small needs so much STUFF?! Anyhow, one of the things that I was thinking about was the high chair. We used to have a cool fold up plastic portable one for B, but somehow, we didn’t manage to keep it around for #2, so while perusing the internet I came across this fabric portable high chair tutorial. And while I wouldn’t exactly call it a “high chair” (more of a restraint system, really), it will surely do the trick at gramma’s!

So easy!!! So here’s mine:

I love love love the fabric! My momma got me the pink and green for my birthday. Nice and heavy duty and pretty!  I stuck Lissy in it this afternoon and she wasn’t going anywhere! And while she hates being restrained, stick a cheerio in front of her, and all is well. :)

 

Easy Wall Art

I’m on a mission to beautify and personalize my house living room (let’s set realistic goals). I’ve always admired home decorating and love browsing Home Goods and other similar shops. For some reason though, decorating my own home has been very difficult for me. I think part of the problem is that I cannot come up with just one style that I like. I love so many themes, textures, colors, etc, that it’s always been simpler to just go with what I know: green and beige and boring. The thing is, that’s really not me. I like COLOR! I like texture! I like fun! And well, my home just doesn’t say that…yet.

So here’s my first baby step towards a more beautiful living space: wall art. Josh and I have always been drawn to black and white photography. It seems to go with everything and is readily available. So that’s what we had. Flowers. On our walls. Everywhere. And while they were nice prints, they weren’t speaking to me. But they did have one thing going for them – nice frames! So that’s where I started. I needed something vibrant and colorful and ME to go in those frames.

Couple that with my new found addiction love of fabric, and I was able to come up with something pretty cool (at least I think they’re cool, still working on the boys).

Simplest process ever!!! But first…

I have a new obsession – charm squares! Oh my goodness, a tiny little stack of perfection. 42 5 inch squares of coordinating fabrics for under $10? I think I’m in love…

This particular pack is Moda’s Central Park. Beautiful shades of purple, blue, orange, yellow, and the perfect green to blend with my couches. So lovely, and just the inspiration I needed to get me started.

I came up with a design I liked, sketched it out onto some green cardstock, and took my exacto knife to it. After cutting out the “leaves,” I did a little design around them with a thin black marker. Then I put different fabrics in each hole, and presto! Pretty pictures!

 

My next goal is pillows…but as I said, baby steps.
